Where should you stay?
Staying in or close to the old town puts walking tours within easy reach. Accommodation outside the walls may offer more peace and space. Check access with luggage and your tour's meeting point, especially if your base is on a hill or reached by steps.

The city walls and Dubrovnik's defences
Walk along Dubrovnik's city walls with a guide explaining its defences and history. From above, take in the red rooftops and Adriatic Sea. Admission to the walls themselves is not included in the tour price.
Get an introduction to Dubrovnik's old town on a guided walk lasting around an hour and a half. Stories of the city's past bring its squares, streets and historic buildings into context.
See the city walls from the sea on a guided kayaking trip, with an opportunity to swim and snorkel by Betina Cave. This is an active outing with a route dependent on conditions; it does not include going ashore on Lokrum.
May–June and September are good starting points for coastal towns and excursions. July and August are high season, with heat and many visitors. Outside summer, check ferries, tours and seasonal accommodation individually.
