Where should you stay?

A city hotel near the BTS, MRT or boat connections makes it easier to combine temples, markets and local meals. Choose a simple stay for an active city break or more comfort by the river for longer pauses. Consider transport to tour meeting points rather than just distances on a map.

A practical three-day Bangkok outline

Treat this as a suggested order, not a fixed timetable. Group nearby visits together and leave time between booked activities.

Day 1: the river and temples

Make Wat Pho and Wat Arun your main stops, with a proper lunch break. Avoid booking a food tour immediately after a temple tour. Bring clothing covering shoulders and knees, and follow each site's instructions on footwear and admission.

Day 2: neighbourhoods and food

Choose a neighbourhood to explore at your own pace and a food experience in the evening. Ask the operator about allergies and dietary requirements before booking. A list of tastings does not guarantee that an itinerary can be adapted.

Day 3: canals or your onward journey

Choose a canal tour if you have a full day left. Keep departure day flexible instead. If you are continuing to Phuket, plan the beach stay separately. Our November destination comparison helps with seasonal choices.

Choose a base and build your budget

Compare hotels by the station or pier you will actually use. Check the journey with the official BTS route map. A lower room rate may be offset by extra taxi journeys. Budget separately for accommodation, local transport, meals, admission and guided activities; dates and comfort level make a single total misleading.

Travel months and seasons

November鈥揊ebruary is a useful starting point for Bangkok and the Andaman coast around Phuket and Krabi. Koh Samui and the eastern coast have a different rainfall pattern.
