CHOOSE YOUR HOLIDAY STYLE

Five warm destinations in November

The temperatures below are rounded historical averages for daily maximum and nightly minimum temperatures. They are not a forecast for your holiday. The budgets are our worked examples per person per day, excluding flights; see the assumptions below.

Tenerife figures are for the airport in the south; the Maldives figures are for Malé, not every atoll. Reference periods differ, and some series are older. This comparison illustrates broad climate differences rather than a precise ranking. Rainfall totals in millimetres do not tell you how many hours it will rain.

Beach holidays and city breaks need different weather

If you want the beach

Look beyond air temperature. Wind, waves, sea temperature and rain all affect whether you get the swimming days you have in mind. Phuket and the Maldives are worth considering if tropical warmth is your priority, but leave room for rain and changes to boat trips.

Tenerife is an alternative if mild days and a mixture of beaches and excursions appeal to you. An average daily maximum of about 25 °C in the south does not mean that temperature all day. Check whether the hotel pool is heated if that matters to your holiday.

If you want to explore a city

You do not need tropical heat for a rewarding November trip. Marrakech offers markets, courtyards and dinners in milder daytime conditions, but you will need an extra layer after sunset.

In Bangkok, heat is part of the planning. Take longer walks early or late in the day, choose a well-connected base and allow time for breaks. A hotel pool does not make Bangkok a beach destination.

BUDGETS WITH CLEAR ASSUMPTIONS

What does a November holiday cost?

We have not collected current offers for this guide. These figures are Asili Journeys’ editorial planning scenarios, designed to show which costs you need to research. They assume two adults sharing a simple or mid-range double room, local meals and a moderate allowance for local transport and activities. They do not demonstrate that a particular hotel is available at these prices.

Flights, insurance, baggage, any entry fees, separate tourist taxes and major airport or island transfers are excluded. Island transfers in the Maldives can make a particularly large difference. Private resorts are a separate budget category, outside this model. Compare the full price, including compulsory extras, before deciding.

How to use the model: seven days in Marrakech gives DKK 3,150–5,950 per person for the items in the table, before flights and the other exclusions. Expensive flights can make the destination with lower daily costs more expensive overall. Always check prices for your actual dates.

01 · MILD WINTER SUN

Tenerife in November: mild days and a varied holiday

Tenerife suits travellers who want coastal time, towns and landscapes rather than a holiday that depends entirely on beach weather. AEMET’s normals for Tenerife Sur show an average November daily maximum of 24.8 °C and minimum of 18.2 °C. The station is 64 metres above sea level; these measurements do not describe conditions in the mountains. [1]

Use the south as a starting point if relaxing by the coast is your priority. Then make a plan that still works on a cooler or cloudy day: explore a town, enjoy a long lunch or take an excursion when conditions allow. Check access and current conditions before planning a trip towards Teide.

Budget tip: Compare an apartment with a hotel according to how often you want to eat out. If you plan to explore, compare the full cost of a hire car with buses and selected organised tours. Free viewpoints do not mean free transport.

Choose Tenerife if you want a mild sunshine holiday. Consider a tropical destination if warm air from morning to evening is essential.

02 · CITY LIFE AND FOOD

Marrakech in November: warm days, cool evenings

Marrakech suits travellers dreaming of a medina, rooftop terraces and a restful riad stay. WMO gives average November daily maximum and minimum temperatures of 23.1 °C and 10.7 °C. Pack for that difference rather than just the pictures of sunshine and palms. The city is inland and is not a beach destination. [2]

Allow a day to find your bearings, without turning every gap in the schedule into an excursion. A food tour can introduce the city’s cooking; a hammam visit can work well on a cooler day. If a mountain trip appeals, read the journey time and itinerary carefully before adding it to a short city break.

Budget tip: Look at the riad’s location and whether breakfast is included. A cheap room may be less appealing if it means paying for many extra transfers. Agree prices and compare what guided experiences actually include.

Choose Marrakech if you want milder days and rewarding city experiences. It is less suitable if swimming and beach time are your main priorities.

03 · A TROPICAL CITY BREAK

Bangkok in November: temples, canals and warm evenings

WMO’s Bangkok series indicates an average November daily maximum of around 32 °C. The measurements cover the older 1961–1990 period, so treat them as a guide to a hot city climate rather than an exact picture of present-day temperatures. [3]

Choose Bangkok for its neighbourhoods and experiences: the river, temples, street food and variety of busy streets and quieter corners. Plan fewer major stops each day. Convenient access to the transport you will use often matters more than a larger hotel room far away.

A canal trip offers a different view from a day on foot. If you also want the beach, that is a separate part of the journey: allow time and money to change destinations rather than treating Bangkok as a seaside town.

Budget tip: Combine local meals and public transport with a few selected paid experiences. Increase the allowance for expensive restaurants or frequent private transfers.

04 · BEACHES WITH A PLAN B

Phuket in November: tropical warmth with room for rain

Phuket suits a holiday combining beaches, excursions and Thai food. WMO lists an average daily maximum of 31.3 °C and about 174 mm of November rainfall. In the same dataset rainfall is substantially lower than in October, but November still offers no guarantee of dry weather. The record does not specify Phuket’s reference period. [4]

Choose your base according to whether you value access to beaches, restaurants or a quieter stay. A programme of boat trips every other day is vulnerable to weather changes. Keep flexible days, follow local swimming advice and read cancellation terms for activities at sea.

Cooking classes and visits to the old town offer variety when you have had enough of the sun lounger, or when the weather has other ideas. You do not need to change accommodation repeatedly to have a varied holiday.

Budget tip: Research transport between your hotel, the beach and tour meeting points. Budget separately for longer boat trips; the daily allowance in our table does not automatically cover an expensive excursion every day.

05 · ISLAND LIFE AND THE SEA

The Maldives in November: choose your island and budget first

The Maldives are warm in November, but high temperatures do not mean a dry month. Malé’s historical series shows an average daily maximum of about 30 °C and 231 mm of rainfall. The data cover 1981–2000 and represent Malé; conditions vary between islands. [5]

The key decision is the kind of holiday you want. A local island such as Maafushi can provide a base for guesthouse stays and snorkelling trips. A private resort offers a different setting, different facilities and often a very different overall budget. Compare more than the room price.

For trips on the water, check the departure point and weather dependence. Allow room to move an excursion to another day. Choose an island where you would also enjoy days without a full activity programme.

Budget tip: Include transport to and from the island, meals and compulsory extras before booking. The model on this page covers a local island with ordinary comfort, not a villa at a private resort.

Which November holiday suits you?

  • Mild days and city experiences: start with Marrakech.
  • A sunshine holiday with milder temperatures: explore Tenerife and compare areas and hotels.
  • A hot city break: choose Bangkok if food, temples and city life are your priorities.
  • Beaches and varied excursions: consider Phuket with flexibility for rain.
  • Island life and the sea: compare local islands and resorts in the Maldives, including transfers.

To combine Bangkok and Phuket, start with our Thailand guide. To put your own choices together, try the trip planner.

Choose your November holiday in three steps

  1. Choose a holiday style: Is a beach every day essential, or would you rather explore a city? Use the holiday-style column before sorting by the highest temperature.
  2. Compare the same dates: Price flights and accommodation for the same number of nights. Add luggage, airport transport and any island transfers before comparing totals.
  3. Plan one key experience first: Check its departure point, transport and weather conditions. Leave room to move a boat trip; you do not need to book every day before leaving.

If you choose Phuket, continue to the comparison of Kata, Karon, Patong and Old Town and our five-day itinerary. To combine city and beach, explore the Thailand guide and allow a separate travel day between Bangkok and Phuket.

Questions about warm November destinations

Where is warm in Europe in November?

Of the five places in this guide, Tenerife is the relevant choice under Spain. Geographically, the island lies off Africa. The normal at Tenerife Sur is about 25 °C for the November daily maximum, but that does not guarantee beach weather every day. Mainland Europe generally offers a different starting point from a classic summer beach holiday.

Where can you get around 30 degrees in November?

Bangkok, Phuket and Malé have average daily maxima of about 30–32 °C in the series used here. The differences are holiday style and rainfall: Bangkok is a city, while Phuket and the Maldives are beach and island options where rain still needs to be considered.

Which destination is cheapest?

There is no fixed winner when flights and hotels vary by date. Our budget models give Marrakech and Bangkok the lowest daily allowances, but an expensive flight can change the comparison. Compare the total cost of your own trip.

Are the Maldives or Phuket a safe bet for sunshine?

Both are warm, but neither guarantees sunshine in November. The normals used here still show substantial rainfall. Plan flexibly and check current forecasts and the provider’s terms closer to departure.
