When to visit Hurghada

March–April and October–November are useful starting points for combining the beach with outings outside the strongest summer heat. Historical WMO averages show a daily high of 27°C in November against roughly 35°C in July–August. January is around 22°C, so winter sunshine does not mean tropical warmth around the clock.

Ask whether the specific pool you intend to use is heated on your dates. Pack another layer for the boat and evening. Schedule a boat day early enough to move it if conditions prevent departure. The Egypt guide contains the full climate table.

Areas and accommodation styles

Compare Hurghada town around the marina and Sheraton Road if restaurants and visits into town matter. Check noise, beach access and the exact address: a central hotel is not automatically a beachfront hotel. Al Mamsha is another area to investigate for a promenade-focused stay.

Sahl Hasheesh and Makadi Bay are outside the central town and suit resort holidays in which the hotel is a major part of the trip. Compare transfer time to the marina and any pickup supplement. A larger resort can offer plenty of facilities but also substantial walking distances within the property.

For a smaller budget, start with a simple room and cost beach access and meals separately. Mid-range travellers can compare beach hotels with breakfast or half board. For more comfort, prioritise room location, pool temperature and suitable beach entry. Stars alone do not tell you whether you can walk straight into swimming-depth water. Giftun, snorkelling and diving: choosing a trip

Orange Bay is a beach stop in the Giftun area, not a promise of a deserted island. Compare actual beach time with snorkelling and sailing time. Two similarly named trips can have different marinas, group sizes and included meals.

Snorkelling and scuba diving are different activities. If you intend to dive, agree on the level, instructor, equipment, health requirements and insurance with the dive centre. Ask about the required interval before flying too. An ordinary snorkelling trip is not automatically a diving course.

On land, leave a quieter day for the marina or El Dahar. Keep a spare day between a major boat outing and departure. If pyramids and museums are a priority, a separate Cairo stay can be easier to plan than squeezing them into a long day away from the coast.

Budget for the whole beach holiday

One example for two adults sharing a room allocates DKK 250 per person per night to the hotel, DKK 150 to food and DKK 100 to local incidentals each day. Seven nights and seven daily allowances total DKK 3,500 per person before flights, visas, insurance, airport transfers and boat trips. This is our planning model, not an offer or market average.

Compare it with a real all-inclusive quote for the same dates. Remove meals already included and add excursions plus any beach or pickup charges. Solo travellers taking a room alone cannot simply halve the room cost. A more expensive base closer to your outings can also reduce transport needs.

Before you book

Confirm the exact airport and hotel address before arranging a transfer. Save the meeting point offline and obtain an inclusive price for your luggage. For boat outings, understand cancellation terms and ask about safety equipment, shade and assistance for less confident swimmers.

Are Giftun and Orange Bay the same?

Giftun refers to the island area; Orange Bay is a particular beach stop. Read the itinerary rather than just the tour title.

Does Hurghada suit a winter holiday?

It can suit sunshine and outings, but consider evenings, wind and pool temperature. Check monthly averages and ask the hotel about heating.
