Where should you stay?
A small property around La Fortuna suits an active holiday with local excursions. A lodge or accommodation with hot-spring access allows more time to unwind. Compare transport and included facilities to avoid unnecessarily paying for both your stay and separate admission tickets.

Three ideas for your days
01
Guided Arenal walk and hot springs
Walk through the landscape at the foot of Arenal with a guide sharing insights into the volcano and nature. The tour finishes with time in a naturally warm river; views of the volcano depend on cloud cover.
A full day combining La Fortuna Waterfall, a walk near Arenal and hot springs. Lunch is included, and you should be comfortable walking, including the steps at the waterfall. This is an all-in-one alternative to separate excursions.
Enjoy Tabacón's warm mineral waters amid green surroundings, pools and small waterfalls. Day admission includes a meal. Transport is only included if you choose a ticket with a shuttle.
Mid-December to April is typically the dry season, particularly on the Pacific coast. The Caribbean coast and mountain regions follow different weather patterns.
