Where should you stay?
A city stay and a base beside a cove offer two different holidays. Choose a small property if you plan to spend your time on excursions, or a hotel with more facilities for long breaks. Compare distances to the beach, restaurants and transport before choosing based on a photograph of the view.

Three ideas for your days
01
Palma's old town with a guide
Explore Palma's old town on a guided walk with stories about its streets, buildings and past. The cathedral features in the itinerary, offering an introduction to one of Mallorca's most striking buildings.
Take a day trip to Valldemossa and the Sóller Valley. The tour combines the Tramuntana mountains with villages, narrow streets and time to experience a different side of Mallorca beyond the coast.
Take a catamaran cruise from Palma with opportunities for snorkelling and paddleboarding, plus snacks on board. The trip lasts around four hours. The route and water activities depend on weather and sea conditions; check departure details and the meeting point before booking.
April–June and September–October are good starting points for cities and excursions. July and August also suit beach holidays, but can be very hot and busy. This advice focuses on Barcelona and Mallorca.
